Scarlet Fever Glossy, matte or velvet, a tide of red lips flooded the catwalk this autumn/winter season 2010. Lips were seductive, full bodied, dense, bold and made a statement. At D squared runway show in New York, key makeup artist Gordon Espinet referenced photographer Helmut Newton for his inspiration - “tough yet beautiful women”. He lengthens the eyes with a smudged black/grey pencil liner to create a catlike effect, then teamed it with the in trend bold orange red lip in a velvet texture. He also shaped the lips to an angled point at the cupids bow to give a modern twist to 1920s shape.

Think Mink This mink makeup trend was best described by artist Terry Barber as “cashmink”. It’s all about tonal tones in taupe shades, perfectly blended to create neutral warm shadows across the face. Think old-fashioned, sepia photographs. The good news is taupe shades are extremely wearable for every one, just choose shades of taupe, two and three shades darker than your skin tone, blend well and team it up with a soft brown mascara or even no mascara and a nude bare lip. On the cheeks stick to peachy taupe tones to give an in mono taupe colour look, beautiful sexy and a step up from complete nude as we saw in previous seasons.
